Topic 4.1 – Sketching and Creating Your Patch
Materials Needed:
You will use:
Paper
Markers
Colored pencils
Crayons
Ruler
Objects to trace shapes (circles, squares, or other shapes)
(Optional: Computer or digital drawing tool)
Now it’s time to create your mission patch! First, use paper and a pencil to sketch your design. Your mission patch must include your last name. Choose 1–2 main symbols that represent you the most and 3–5 smaller symbols that show other interests you enjoy.
Use rulers and shape tools to help create clean shapes like circles or diamonds. Once your sketch is approved, you will begin your final mission patch using markers, colored pencils, or crayons. Take your time and do your best work—astronauts design their patches carefully, and so will you!
You may also choose to create your mission patch on a computer if that option is available.
